Acceptable use policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This policy explains what you may and may not do with SignupVet. It details section 5 of our Terms of service and applies to every account, API key and plan, including the Free plan.
1. What SignupVet is for
SignupVet helps you protect your own product from fraud and abuse. You may use it to check signups, logins, account changes and form submissions on services you operate, and to decide whether to allow, review or block them.
2. What you must do
- Have a legal basis for sending us your users' email addresses, phone numbers and IP addresses, and say in your privacy notice that you check signups for fraud prevention.
- Send only the data needed for the check. Do not send special categories of personal data (for example health, religion or sexual orientation) or data you are not allowed to share.
- Give people a way forward when you block or review them, for example a support address, and look at a case again if someone asks.
- Keep your API keys secret, use them only on your own servers and revoke them if they leak.
3. What you must not do
- Make significant decisions about people. Do not use SignupVet results to decide on credit, insurance, employment, housing, education, healthcare or similar eligibility. SignupVet is not a consumer reporting agency, and its results are not consumer reports.
- Discriminate. Do not use results, including a country or network, to treat people unlawfully on the basis of protected characteristics.
- Check people who are not your users. Do not run purchased, scraped or third-party lists through the service, build marketing or contact lists, enrich data for outreach, or look up people to track, profile or harass them.
- Resell or repackage the service. Do not resell, sublicense or publish SignupVet results as a data product, and do not offer the API to others as part of your own lookup or verification service without a written agreement with us.
- Help fraud. Do not use the service to test or tune ways to get around fraud checks, ours or anyone else's.
- Support unlawful activity. Do not use SignupVet for a product or service that is illegal, sends spam or phishing, or deceives people.
- Abuse the service. Do not overload, probe, scan or attack it, get around rate limits or quotas, create several accounts to get more free checks, share API keys between unrelated businesses, or try to reverse fingerprints, data sets or the scoring.
4. What happens if these rules are broken
We may warn you, limit or suspend API keys, or close the account, depending on how serious the breach is. Where reasonable we will contact you first. Where the law requires it, we may report unlawful use to the authorities. Section 9 of the Terms of service on liability applies.
5. Reporting misuse
If you believe someone is misusing SignupVet, write to support@signupvet.com. We look at every report.
6. Changes
We may update this policy as the service or the law changes. We will tell account holders about material changes by email before they take effect.
